Measure Once. Fit Perfectly.

Get the right fit for your Shield Blind in just a few simple steps. Accurate measurements ensure maximum sun protection, reduced glare, and a clean, professional installation.

Why Accurate Measurements Matter

Every Shield Blind is designed to provide a precise fit for maximum protection and performance. Taking accurate measurements helps ensure your shield installs easily, stays securely in place, and effectively reduces heat, glare, and harmful UV rays. Follow the step-by-step guide below to achieve the best possible fit for your vehicle.

What You'll Need

Measuring Tape

Use a flexible measuring tape to capture precise dimensions.

Pen & Notepad

Write down each measurement as you go to avoid mistakes.

A Helping Hand

A second person can help hold the measuring tape in place, ensuring precise measurements every time.

Three steps to measure for Shield

Step 1: Measuring Your Window’s Recess Depth

Before you measure the width and height of your window, it’s important to check the recess depth to ensure there’s enough space for the Shield to fit inside.

  • Minimum recess depth required: 3 centimeters for proper installation.
  • How to measure: Start at the front edge of the window recess (the part farthest from the window) and measure to the shallowest point within the recess.

Watch for Obstructions

Before measuring, check for anything that could affect the fit of your Shield Blind, including:

  • Rearview mirror
  • Dash cameras
  • Toll tags or transponders
  • GPS mounts
  • Windshield sensors
  • Decorative accessories

Measuring Around Obstructions

If your windshield has permanent obstructions, follow these steps:

  1. Measure the full width of the windshield first.
  2. Note the location of any permanent accessories or sensors.
  3. Do not subtract the obstruction from your measurement.
  4. Include any special notes with your order if requested.
  5. Contact our support team if you're unsure how to measure around a specific obstruction.

Step 2: Measuring the Width

Since windows are often not perfectly square, you need to measure the width in three different places to account for any unevenness:

  • Top of the window recess
  • Middle of the window recess
  • Bottom of the window recess

Record the smallest of these three measurements. This ensures your Shield fits the narrowest point of your window.

Step 3: Measuring the Height

Next, measure the height of your window recess. Once again take measurements from three locations:

  • Left of the window recess
  • Middle of the window recess
  • Right of the window recess

Just like with the width, record the smallest of these three measurements.

Avoid Common Measuring Mistakes

To get the most accurate measurements, avoid these common errors:

  • Measuring at an angle: Always hold the tape measure straight and level.
  • Bending the tape measure: Keep the tape straight to ensure accurate measurements.
  • Rounding incorrectly: Round to the nearest tenth of a centimeter.

Final Tips for Accurate Measurement

  • Be precise: Use exact measurements, if needed, round to the nearest tenth of a centimeter. This ensures the best fit.
  • Allow us to make the deductions: Provide the exact width and height, and we’ll make any necessary adjustments during manufacturing.
  • Measure at the front of the recess: This is the area where the Shield will be installed, so it’s crucial to measure accurately at this depth.
  • Uneven windows are welcome: Shield is engineered to accommodate up to 0.39 in (10 mm) of unevenness with the help of the integrated weather strip and brush strip. If the fit is still not right, you are covered by the Shield Fit Promise.
